NEW MUMS FAQ

Are you wondering whether to come along to a class? Not sure what to expect or if it’s for you? Wondering what you need to bring to or prepare for the class?

I’ve put together a FAQ that will hopefully answer all these questions and more.  You’ll see from the below that you don’t really need much to join in.  I really hope to see you at a class soon, however, if you have any other questions or want to chat before joining a class please contact me as I’m always happy to chat :)

WHEN CAN I START?

You may come to a session as soon as you’ve had your doctors check and they have confirmed you can exercise. As a guideline you should be ok to join 6 weeks postnatally if you gave birth vaginally and 10-12 weeks postnatally if you had a c-section.

All new clients need to complete a pre-exercise screening before coming along.

I also encourage all mums (at whatever stage) to see a women's health physio to ensure all the exercises we do are safe and effective for where you are at in your stage of recovery. I have links with and recommend a women's health physio in Palmy if you would like.

Please contact me to arrange a consultation.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR (OUTSIDE CLASSES)

  • Wear layers - you will get warm even in the cold weather so its useful to be able to take off / put on layers during the session. The weather here can also change quickly so it’s good to be prepared!

  • Warm hat and gloves may be useful especially in these colder months

  • Sunhat for protection from the sun in the summer months

  • Trainers or walking shoes

  • Comfortable sports bra

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR (INDOOR CLASSES)

  • Loose fitting clothing, layered so you can take some clothes of as you get warmer

  • Well fitting sports bra

  • Trainers or walking shoes

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

  • Water for mum and baby

  • Snacks/toys for toddler

  • Raincover / sunshade for buggy (outside classes)

  • Suncream (outside classes)

  • Mat or towel (outside classes)

WHAT ABOUT THE WEATHER?

Outdoor classes will go ahead in most weather - so please come prepared.  If it looks like rain then bring a rain jacket for you and a rain cover for the buggy. Remember that whilst you will get warm exercising your baby will not be exercising so in the colder months make sure they are tucked up in a blanket or something similar.

If it is unsafe to hold the class outdoors due to wind or heavy rain I will hold the session live via Zoom so you can do it at home.  All you need is a phone or tablet to access Zoom.

I DON’T REALLY EXERCISE…CAN I STILL COME? DO I NEED TO DO ANYTHING TO PREPARE?

The classes are suitable for all fitness levels and the exercises can be adapted to make sure everyone gets the most out of the sessions.  So whether you think of yourself as an ‘exerciser’ or not come along for some fresh air, movement and fun socialising with other mums!

From my experience when my daughter was younger it can be a good idea to feed your baby before the session.  This makes for a happier/comfier mum (especially if breastfeeding) a happier baby!
