PELVIC FLOOR, CORE & MORE

What is it?

A 60 minute small group class (max 8) designed specifically for new mums or women looking to work on strengthening their deep core, heal diastasis recti (split tummy) and work towards a well functioning pelvic floor.

So many mums I meet think ‘a little leaking’ is just part of being a mum. Yes this is common but it is NOT normal and there are things that can be done about it (however old your kids are) so you can move, run, jump with confidence.

Expect a mix of breathing exercises, pelvic floor exercises, mobility, strength and cardio moves.  All exercises are low impact and exercises will be tailored for anyone with specific needs in relation to pelvic floor and / or Diastasis Recti.

To get the most out of these classes and to ensure you are working to the right level for you I always recommend that you see a women's health physio alongside coming to class.

Class finishes with some relaxation and stretching.

STRENGTH & MOBILITY

What is it?

Small group (max 8) class focussing on strength & mobility.

Mobility (which is different to flexibility) refers to the range of motion of the joints and structures in your body. It is important because it allows you to move more easily throughout your life.

Do you find you spend a lot of time sitting in a slumped position at your desk, looking at your phone or iPad, or perhaps from spending hours breastfeeding? It’s one of the most common postural conditions I see!

Are you breathing properly into the front sides and back of your ribcage? If not it may be that you have ‘sticky’ ribs that need a little mobilising!

During class we will go through different ‘releases’ and ‘mobilisation’ to work on mobilising and lengthening any short muscles before moving onto strengthening exercises. By spending time mobilising first you will find that the strengthening exercises you do will be much more effective. It’s all about creating balance in the body.

As this is a small group class individual coaching and tailoring of exercises (if wanted/required) can be given to ensure technique is good and you are working out as effectively as possible.  Everyone is different so a tailored approach to your session will mean you get the most out of each session.
